Cruikshank, Frederick
(possibly Aberdeen 1800 - 1868)
The pupil of Andrew Robertson participated during the years of 1822 and 1860 repeatedly in exhibitions of the Royal Academy, the British Institution and the Society of British Arts. His works and their painting technique resemble Robertson' s to such a degree, that ascribing them correctly often proves very difficult. Cruikshank worked as a miniaturist in Scotland. He had a son and five daughters by his wife, Cathrine Balby; two of his daughters became miniaturists as well.
