Lady in Yellow Gown with Blue Bandeau

The lady in a tender yellow gown with fichu stands out against the deep grey background. Her blue bandeau and the dark red upholstery on which she rests her left arm form colourful elements which beautifully frame her face and upper body. The artist' s mastership is especially obvious in the sitter' s face which is modelled with soft and tender brush strokes in grey and violet. Her face and clothes are distinctly reproduced; the artist used a broad sprectre of pastel shades.
