The son and student of Jean-Baptiste Coclers studied in Rome under Pêcheux and later settled as an easel- and miniature painter in Marseille. There he became headmaster and later on director of the Royal Academy. The only miniature known by him is the one in the Tansey Collection (catalogue no. 2008-91).
