This portrait presents an unknown elderly lady with flamboyant hairstyle, earrings and brooch. The lady's posture seems somewhat stiff which is probably due to her fashionable but tight dress. Stelzner's flawless painting technique is visible in the colours being evenly applied with delicate brushstrokes. Creating an authentic representation of his sitter the artist also painted the lady's melancholic facial expression and her double chin. Her body shape is brought out by the dark neutral background.
