This self-taught artist was awarded a prize by the Society of Arts and exhibited his works between 1773 and 1775 there. From 1774 until 1804 Shelley showed his paintings at the Royal Academy and at the British Institute. Apart form painting in oils and watercolours he was also proficient in print techniques.
