Suchy was a pupil with Jakob Matthias Schmutzer at the Vienna Academy since 1802. His daughter is the lady painter Maria Antonia Suchy. He not only worked as a miniaturist, but dealt with large sized portraits in oils and pastels as well. Apart from the imperial family, numerous artists like Adalbert Stifter and Johann Strauß the elder commissioned his portraits.
