Daniel Saint

Saint, Daniel
(Saint-Lô 1778 - 1847 Saint-Lô)
Saint received his education with Regnault, Aubry and Isabey and became a valuable workmate (co-worker) of the latter when dealing with official commissions. His first-rate paintings had him appointed court painter to Napoleon. Between 1804 and 1839 he took part in most of the Paris Salon' s exhibitions. Under Charles X and Louis Philippe he again was employed at court. His style modelled itself on Isabey and Augustin. Initially he adopted Isabey' s technique, too which he subsequently gave up in favour of a broader brushstroke.
