Romany, François Antoine

Romany was born the son of a Lyon merchant and was a friend of the Swedish painter Wertmüller. In 1790 he married the paintress Marie Jeanne called Adèle de Romance but got divorced from her a few years later. In 1776 he married Marie Elisabeth de Royé, née Valfray. Being afraid of criticism Romany never exhibited at the Salon in Paris.
