Lady in White Gown with Red Bodice

A lady stands in front of park scenery and is resting her left arm on a stone plinth with a vase decorated with puttos and grotesque faces. The lady is wearing a white gown which is tightly fitted at her waist according to the pre-revolutionary fashion. The lady' s waist is addititionally emphasized by the red bodice.The sitter is holding an object in her right hand which resembles a spindle or a knob of a parasol. The composition of the picture probably had a specific significance for the addressee of the miniature which is hidden for the observer today.
