Ignaz Rungaldier

Rungaldier, Ignaz
(Graz 1799 - 1876 Graz)
The son of the goldsmith Johann Georg Rungaldier studied in Vienna with Kieninger at the Academy and Kauperz at the engravers' school. At first he worked as an engraver in copper and mezzotint. Around 1825 Rungaldier devoted himself to miniature painting under the influence of the miniaturists Carl Josef Alois Agricola and Johann Nepomuk Ender, whose works he copied. Until about 1836 he remained in Vienna to return afterwards to his hometown Graz. Rungaldier painted portraits in watercolour as well, following the style of Ender.
