Jedrzey Hintz
Hintz (also: Hintze), Jedrzey (also: Andreas) Jozef
From 1807 until 1812 Hintz studied at the University of Vilnius under Jan Rustem and moved to Warsaw afterwards. He put adverts in the papers introducing himself as a portrait painter thus trying to find customers. He is documented in Krakow in 1815 where he presumably achieved several portrait orders after he had attended an exhibition. According to Polish sources he was a Prussian subject but nevertheless he was a travelling artist. His travels led him particularly often to Vilnius where many of his miniatures were painted and where they can still be seen today.
