(Johann) Wenzel Kraus

Kraus, (Johann) Wenzel
(Kahn/Brüx 1791 - 1849 Wien)
Before taking up his artist' s career, Kraus studied mathematics and later on painting at the Academy in Prague. He worked alternately in Prague, Teplitz, Karlsbad and Linz, but mainly in Vienna. Miniatures by Wenzel Kraus are for the most part influenced by two artists: his early work was in the style of Füger, and relatively late, from around 1840 onwards an affinity with Daffinger is noticeable.
