(Johann) Wenzel Kraus
Gentleman in Black Coat
1842
rectangular: 9.90 cm x 8.30 cm
vergoldeter Metallrahmen
Whereas Wenzel Kraus' first works are influenced by the traditional Füger school, this portrait shows Daffinger's influence in the sitter's face which is modelled with great authenticity in unusual colours and invisible shades. The gentleman is represented in front of a neutral backgound and the whole picture gives an austere impression.
