When starting to collect miniatures about thirty years ago the German-American couple Lieselotte and Ernest Tansey were mainly advised by art dealers from Switzerland, London and Munich with whom they were friends.

In 1997 a part of their fascinating collection was transformed into a donation which is now open to the public in the Bomann Museum in Celle. As one of the most significant collections of European miniature paintings, the Tansey Collection will be presented in varying exhibitions and from different viewpoints in the next years.

Each exhibition will be accompanied by scholarly researched publications.
